And Then the Rain.

It was just like fate,
Finding ourselves
caught in the rain
with nowhere to go
but under a tree
to wait it out.

I'll never forget
the way the rain ran
in tiny rivulets
down the side of your face
past your temples,
in ways that made me wish
it was my fingers instead.

You were laughing
like you always do,
a grin across your face
as you swore at the weather
and shook it off your arms.
And then quite suddenly
we were seeing each other
and for the first time
for both of us

we stood speechless.
