Success

"Success makes so many people hate you. I wish it wasn't that way. It would be wonderful to enjoy success without seeing envy in the eyes of those around you."

-Marilyn Monroe

I Believe in Pink

"I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles."

-Audrey Hepburn

Lost in Thoughts of You

I often find myself lingering in thoughts of you. I ponder fresh baked cookies, warm homemade pies, chocolate fudge brownies, your massive collection of valuable beanie babies, and fluffy Pomeranians too. It’s like you’re still here. I still feel you softly patting my back. I still smell the aroma of chocolate chip cookies, apple pies, fresh made brownies each and every time I step out of the car before entering your house, and I still hear your sweet voice cheerfully welcoming me with a “hello dear.”

Nostalgia gets the best of me. Visions of puzzles pictured of Indians appear in my mind. Hearing the screeching sound of your old recliner chair rocking back and forth still invades my ear drums. I still hear your joyous shout, “BINGO!” after having cleared your Bingo card during a game of Blackout.

During the times I think of you, I think of how you were, not of how you are now. Your radiant smile illuminates my thoughts. I envision that sweet twinkle in your eyes and how lively and spirited it makes them. Just the thought enlightens me. The feeling of your warm embrace still diminishing my fears, creating a feeling of absolute peace. My ear drums flood with your loud cheerful chuckle.

Now and then I often find myself lost in thoughts of you. Reminiscing about the good which out rules the bad, focusing in on the smiles and forgetting about the flooding tears once shed. I often find myself thinking of you. Often meaning yesterday, today, right now, and I’m guessing tomorrow will be the same.

Some Things You Just Can't Learn

There are some things you just can’t learn or be taught by anyone, but you. You, yourself are the best teacher. You make a mistake, you learn from it. You fall down; you learn to get right back up. You can only teach yourself. Teachers will try to teach you things, they’ll try to make you remember the lessons, but when it all comes down to it, you choose to remember it. You choose to learn. You decide whether or not you are going to school, you decide whether or not you are going to graduate.

There are some things you just can’t learn or be taught by anyone, but you. You are your own teacher.

The Future Of Us

In English 12, we were assigned to a find a book to read. I chose the book The Future Of Us. The main characters are Emma and Josh. The book takes place during the early nineties before computers or Facebook were popular. In the book, Emma receives a computer from her father as a guilt gift. Josh, who has been Emma's best friend for years, but distanced himself from her, comes back into her life and gives her a CD-ROM after hearing she received a computer. After taking the CD-ROM, Emma stumbles upon a future Facebook profile of herself. Emma became very scared and curious. She had no idea what she stumbled upon. As the book goes on and as she scrolls down on the profile, she realizes that her future self is absolutely miserable. Josh, being a good friend that he is, tries to help her and tries to convince her that this is all just some joke. But later, she informs him that she isn't the only one with a profile; he also has a profile.

And Then the Rain.

It was just like fate,
Finding ourselves
caught in the rain
with nowhere to go
but under a tree
to wait it out.

I'll never forget
the way the rain ran
in tiny rivulets
down the side of your face
past your temples,
in ways that made me wish
it was my fingers instead.

You were laughing
like you always do,
a grin across your face
as you swore at the weather
and shook it off your arms.
And then quite suddenly
we were seeing each other
and for the first time
for both of us

we stood speechless.

My Bio.

Hello! For starters, my name is Alexis Ennis. My friends call me Lexi, you can too. I am seventeen years old and am currently a senior in high school. I attend Cascade Jr/Sr High School and graduate in December. When I was your age, I was attending Bernard Elementary. Boy, those were the days! I currently have a job at Shady Rest Care Center here in Cascade. It's a pretty neat experience having a job. My favorite color is lime green. I have one very young, spunky kitten named Misty. I have two sisters and one brother. There names are Cami, Leah, and Mark. They were listed in order of age. I am the youngest, of course. All of my siblings are moved out and have kids. I have two nieces (almost three) and one nephew. They are my favorite! I love them very much. After high school, I plan on going straight to college. I have big dreams. I plan on becoming a children's psychiatrist. I love and strive for helping those in need. I love to make people smile. In my free time, I enjoy going four wheeling, listening to music, hanging out with friends, and sometimes I just like to draw or write. I'm kind of a laid back person. I'll be the first to admit that I don't have many friends, but I am grateful for the friends I do have.

So far, so good.

I must admit starting out, I was scared that my senior year would be a lot harder and I was pretty nervous. Now that I've started senior year, I'm less nervous and less scared. I know that I am capable of handling everything that is thrown my way. I've come this far, and there's no way I'm going to mess it up now. So far, the school year seems pretty easy, but it's only been five days since school has started. I'm ready to endure anything comes my way this school year. As for now; so far, so good.
